Security & privacy
Private by architecture,
not by promise.
Most AI products send everything to their cloud and ask you to trust a policy. Gladys is built the other way around: the sensitive parts never leave your phone, so the policy has less to cover.
The brain lives on your phone
The reasoning engine, your conversations, and your friendsβ memory of you run and live ON DEVICE, in an encrypted local database. Leaving your phone at home is the only way they forget. We could not read your chats from our servers, because they are not on our servers.
Your passwords are unknowable
When something needs a sign-in, a sheet appears on YOUR screen and YOU type into it β the same way you log in anywhere. Your friends never see, ask for, or store a credential. There is no vault of your passwords here, by construction.
Nothing happens without your tap
Anything that commits β a purchase, an order, a sent message β pops a visible confirmation that only your finger can approve. The phone is the airlock. No exceptions, no "auto-buy," no silent sends.
No ads. No data sales. No training on you.
Our business model is on the pricing page β subscriptions. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and your conversations are not used to train models.
What does leave the phone β and why
Honesty beats absolutism. A live AI conversation needs partners, so here is the complete list:
- The conversation itself, in the moment. Voice and messages are processed in real time by AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Deepgram) to generate the reply β then it comes back to your phone. That processing is the product working, not a copy of your life being kept.
- Your account. Sign-in, subscription, and billing run through Apple, Stripe, and our account provider β the same rails as any app you pay for.
- Friends you create. Their card β name, voice choice, one-line soul, portrait β syncs so you can share them and restore them on a new phone. Their MEMORY of you stays on device.
- Things you make. Generated images and videos are stored so we can show them back to you and let you share them.
Gladys is rated 17+. Characters are AI and say so when sincerely asked. If a conversation turns to crisis, characters surface real resources (like the 988 lifeline in the US).
